Inquiry Panel extends deadline for written submissions to August 31st

The Canadian Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Antisemitism (CPCCA) has
extended its deadline for accepting written submissions to the Parliamentary
Inquiry into Antisemitism.

“The response has been great so far,” said Member of Parliament Scott Reid,
Chair of the Steering Committee of the CPCCA, “and in order to ensure that
we have the most comprehensive and balanced view of antisemitism in
Canada, we want to give ample opportunity to respond to our call for
submissions.”

In June, the CPCCA launched its nation-wide inquiry into antisemitism by
inviting written submissions on antisemitism. It plans to review the
submissions and begin hearing witness testimony in the fall. Following the
inquiry, the CPCCA will submit a report on antisemitism to the Government of
Canada, in anticipation of the next Interparliamentary Conference on
Combating Antisemitism, to be held in Ottawa in October 2010.

The CPCCA is an informal coalition of dedicated members of parliament
seeking to eradicate antisemitism. The Inquiry Panel will be headed by Mario
Silva, MP and the Steering Committee is chaired by Scott Reid MP. The
coalition seeks submissions from all interested parties, including but not
limited to academics, faith groups, policing organizations, non-profits and
individuals.
